Atlanta Braves Infield Far From Certain (About.com)

The first game of spring is minutes away and question marks remain about who will be the opening day starter at second. Alberto Callaspo appeared like the early favorite, but he seriously struggled last year. Veterans Kelly Johnson and Eric Young Jr. are around this spring fighting for a spot on the roster and could even force their way into playing time at second base. Philip Gosselin had some good moments last year.

However, the youth movement's favorites are easily Jace Peterson and Jose Peraza. Peterson, acquired in the Justin Upton trade, has some major league experience and his left-hand bat could present some options both at second and shifting to third to spell Chris Johnson. On the other hand, Jose Peraza is the best position prospect the Braves currently have and could settle into a regular starting role for the next several years...once he's deemed ready. What's your prediction? Tell me in the comments after you read my latest article. Note that the article opens in a new window.
